Without the help of our volunteers and commercial sponsors, we wouldn’t have been able to upscale our nest box project to what it is today.

Every year we get a team together to help us to build/refurbish duck boxes, distribute them amongst selected locations, and collect data. Chris and Dan first reached out to their fellow club members at the Pitt Meadows Gun Club for help with their project. Roughly 50% of the PW volunteers are members of PMGC and the club has been instrumental in making the project possible, through providing storage for materials, a venue for construction and meetings/presentations to other groups who may want to get involved. Several members of Ducks Unlimited BC and the BC Nature Trust also participate in our events.

In order to help our youth and new hunters on their path to becoming safe, successful and ethical waterfowlers, we often need a lot of hunting supplies. Our sponsors from Kent Cartridge, Sure-Shot Game Calls and Reliable Gun Vancouver have been instrumental in this. 

When we first started up, the number of nest boxes was few enough that we could build them from our own supplies, but since we had further interest from volunteers and the project began to swell, we realised we needed help. DU came to the rescue with a supply of pine wood and steel poles to replace our ageing boxes in Pitt Marsh. Burley Boys also really stepped up for the upcoming year supplying us with plenty of raw red cedar that will be used to build new boxes for expansion in 2021.
